hey, great website! I'll be checking back frequently. I love the idea of urban farming. Granted, I'm livin' the life up north with my husband. We have the opportunity to farm as a way of life, and working toward our farm providing our entire income, so we can both be full time farmers. We raise grass fed beef, meat chickens during warmer months that are pastured, greenhouse operation. I'm happy that you have the opportunity to have a piece of farming in your city limits.
If you'd like to email me and share your urban farm stories, please write! I love to meet new people and make new friends. My email is LBloink@gmail.com thanks.

A free catolog for what? This site does not sell anything, just some folks in Ann Arbor raising chickens.

To Patty,
I can tell you that in early 2010 A2CityChickens will help teach a coop building class at the UofM Matthaei Botanical Gardens. When the date gets set there will be a posting on this site, Matthaei Botanical Gardens site and our Yahoo group. I’m sorry but I don’t have more details yet on this event.
Or if you like use our contact us form we can chat offline about some possible local builders.

to patty...while not as distinctive /attractive as some of the local coops a really nice and relatively affordable product line can be seen on the website of "omlet usa"...a british company that makes very user-friendly plastic coops called "eglus" that got a great endorsement in a recent
new yorker' article on chicken keeping by susan orleans...im looking into them seriously (specifically the eglu cube with attached run), although they may be declasse' to those with architect designed coopage ...

In the spring I am looking to get some chicks but want the coop to be all ready and I am looking for someone who builds chicken coops in the Ann Arbor area. Any suggestions or referrals.

Interesting. Nice site. I like the idea of the hens helping the garden by eating bugs, and fertilizing.

nice site...im trying to get the township to amend its anti-chicken residential ordinances along the A2 city lines and this helps..i suspect it will happen without much controversy..
.if any pro-chicken a2 township residents see this posting, feel free to be in touch...im in the phone book.

good job a2 city council for FINALLY legalizing hens -- i had four hens every summer in the mid-1980s until the city gave me a cease-and-desist order -- they were idiots to do so because now people like you and me are having the last laugh -- thanks for a great web site -- keep up the good work...
